Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a light chop building from the S with the barometer flat. Give the shaded margin through bright spells the first hour at Lac Rond. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Night
Out in Laurentides, Quebec, sits Lac Rond. The surface lies 219 metres up. At about 62 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. A shoreline of some 3.2 km keeps the choices simple. It ranks high for size among our Laurentides listings. The closest town, Lac-Simon, is 12 km distant. Orléans is the closest city, 86 km away. The line between counties passes nearby, which can change who manages the water.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Laurentides records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch among the fish reported. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. The shape of Lac Rond rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Between January at about -14°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. Count the season from break-up, usually late April. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. The season on Lac Rond rarely departs from it.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac Windigo, 1.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac Rond in particular, ask before you travel.
