Squally, thundery weather in the area today, with a gentle ripple from the SW with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Lac Rolo should be near any hard bottom among the soft. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for Lac Rolo in Outaouais, Quebec. Beyond the shoreline you have mixed forest. Surface area runs to about 6 hectares — small enough to read in one session. Deep River is the closest place, 31 km off. Further out sit Chalk River (40 km) and Petawawa (56 km). Round about: Lac Clarke after 1.8 km, Lac Michaux within 2.2 km, Lac Celakovsky after 2.5 km, Lac Crantz within 2.6 km and Lac Malte after 2.7 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Records held for Outaouais cover pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. On Lac Rolo the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Seasonal averages run from -14°C in January up to 18°C in July. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. The lid tends to go about late April and return around late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Rolo.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. If the gate is shut, Lac Clarke at 1.8 km is the nearest alternative. Treat access at Lac Rolo as something to verify.
