Heavy overcast holding through the day, with light air out of the W and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lac Roger along sheltered bays and points. Expect the better fishing from night into morning. Give the likely spots time before moving. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Lac Roger in the Laurentides part of Quebec. Salt water lies 24 km off. Brownsburg-Chatham lies 12 km from the water. The big place round here is Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne, 42 km distant. Close neighbours run: Lac Grace out at 0.7 km, Lac Bixley 1 km off, Lac des Sucreries out at 1.3 km, Lac Tania 1.6 km off and Lac Curran out at 1.7 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Records held for Laurentides cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac Roger responds to conditions more than to tactics.
The seasonal spread runs -13°C to 19°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly early December. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Roger.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Grace at 0.7 km is the sensible second choice. The position on Lac Roger is worth confirming on the day.
