A grey, even sky over the water, with just enough W wind to ripple the surface and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac Clair will be around the shallows early and the drop later. The best of it runs night into morning. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones.

Lac Clair lies within the bounds of Laurentides, Quebec. It stands 237 metres above sea level. With some 48 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Shoreline comes to about 4.1 km, small enough to learn in a day. On our Laurentides list it sits near the top for size. Brownsburg-Chatham is the closest town at 9.1 km. Beyond it, Lachute at 9.5 km and Saint-Canut at 19 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Species logged across Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Lac Clair responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Seasonal averages run from -12°C in January up to 20°C in July. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Ice is part of the season here, ending near mid April. The open-water window runs from around mid April to about early December in an average year. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Clair.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. The nearest mapped parking is 770 m away, so the last stretch is on foot. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Should this one be busy, Lac Boyd is 1 km off. Check the position at Lac Clair before loading the car.
