An even grey lid over the water, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSW with the barometer flat. The fish at Lac Rice are likely to sit near the weed line and any gaps in it. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Rice is listed under Outaouais, Quebec. It sits in lake country bush country. Surface area is around 22 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Bank access stretches around 2.9 km in total. Nearest town is Saint-Raphaël, 53 km off. Beyond it, Saint-Boniface at 54 km and Maniwaki at 54 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. The near bank of Lac Rice is often the one people ignore.
The warmest month averages 18°C, the coldest about -15°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near late November in autumn. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Anyone fishing Lac Rice regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Careau, 0.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac Rice, the notice at the access point is the final word.
