Dull, settled light over the water, with a light chop building from the SSW and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Brennan should come off shallow cover and weed edges. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

In Quebec, Lac Brennan falls inside Outaouais. The setting is lake country bush on every side. The water covers some 46 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The edge runs 3.3 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. It is among the larger waters listed here for Outaouais. Saint-Boniface lies 58 km from the water. After that come Maniwaki at 60 km and Saint-Raphaël at 60 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Open biodiversity records for Outaouais list pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Lac Brennan repays a walk before the first cast.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -15°C in January. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Lac Brennan fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac Otjick, 2.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Brennan for certain.
