An even grey lid over the water, with a firm SSW blow with the glass holding level. Give shallow cover and weed edges the first hour at Lac Rencurel. Make the night the heart of the trip. Make the first hour count and build on it. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Set in Outaouais, Lac Rencurel is a Quebec water. It stands 335 metres above sea level. It covers about 4 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Our Outaouais list holds plenty of bigger water. For a base, Wakefield sits 6.2 km out. Val-des-Monts is 14 km away, with Cantley at 17 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Survey and observation records for Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. The near bank of Lac Rencurel is often the one people ignore.
On the long-term average, July reads 19°C and January reads -13°C. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about early December. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Time your trip to Lac Rencurel by conditions rather than dates.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Faguette, 0.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Lac Rencurel should be assumed from this page alone.
