Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface and steady pressure. Expect most activity at Lac Renard around the first drop-off and weed lines. The productive run goes the day. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

You will find Lac Renard in Mauricie, Quebec. It sits at 363 metres above sea level. The water covers some 41 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The edge runs 3.9 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Size puts it in the front rank of our Mauricie list. La Tuque lies 34 km from the water. Trois-Rivières is the closest city, 130 km away. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Renard the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -16°C on the long-run figures. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. In an average year the thaw lands around late April and the freeze near late November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Expect Lac Renard to follow that timing.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. The nearest alternative is Lac Gagne, 1 km out. Signs at Lac Renard carry more weight than any list.
