A closed sky with even light today, with mild air moving in from the WSW and no real change in pressure. On Lac Rena, work points where shallow meets deep first. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Within Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, you have Lac Rena. It sits at 407 metres above sea level. The water covers some 11 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. About 1.9 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Nearest town is Saint-Prime, 27 km off. Further out sit Roberval (27 km) and Saint-Félicien (29 km). It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Lac Rena responds to conditions more than to tactics.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -18°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lac Rena runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac de la Linotte sits 1.2 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Rena in particular, ask before you travel.
