Flat light and a covered sky today, with a soft S wind and no real change in pressure. Expect most activity at Lac Reid around windblown banks where food collects. A tough forecast; the evening offers the only real chance. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Reid lies within the bounds of Côte-Nord, Quebec. It lies 297 metres above sea level. At about 60 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The shoreline runs about 5.5 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. Betsiamites sits 38 km from the bank. Saguenay sits 162 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Survey and observation records for Côte-Nord include logperch. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. The shape of Lac Reid rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Long-run averages give July about 16°C and January about -16°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. At Lac Reid the season follows that pattern closely.
No access rule appears in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Taure at 1.3 km is the sensible second choice. Signs at Lac Reid carry more weight than any list.
