Rain colouring the margins today, with next to no ripple and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac Reid should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. The evening is where the day comes good. Work the productive water thoroughly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Reid is an Outaouais water, Quebec side. The land about it is lake country bush. At about 21 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The bank runs about 1.7 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. The closest town, Saint-Boniface, is 69 km away. Maniwaki follows at 75 km, then Saint-Raphaël at 80 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Across Outaouais, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On Lac Reid that means starting tight and working out.
Long-run averages give July about 18°C and January about -16°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Expect Lac Reid to follow that timing.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. For a change of water, Lac Robinson is 1.4 km distant. What applies at Lac Reid may have changed since it was mapped.
