Thin cloud passing over the water tonight, with a light chop building from the SSW with the barometer flat. Start the search at Lac Brennan along reed fringes and open pockets. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Night
You will find Lac Brennan in Outaouais, Quebec. It stands 355 metres above sea level. Roughly 46 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. Around 6.0 km of bank, which is a long day on foot. On our Outaouais list it sits near the top for size. The closest town, Saint-Boniface, is 70 km distant. Maniwaki is 76 km and Deep River 80 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Fish documented in Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. The shape of Lac Brennan decides where the fish sit.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -16°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. On average, late April opens the water and late November closes it again. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Lac Brennan fishes to that pattern most years.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. A jetty or pier is mapped about 900 m from here. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. If the gate is shut, Lac du Chameau at 1.8 km is the nearest alternative. Rules at Lac Brennan are worth checking on the day.
