Bands of rain crossing through the day, with mild air moving in from the S and pressure going nowhere. Start the search at Lac Regnault along reed fringes and open pockets. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Regnault stands in Nord-du-Québec, Quebec. The water sits 374 metres up. Supplies mean a trip to Mistissini, 69 km off. Further out sit Chibougamau (84 km) and Chapais (92 km). If this one is busy: Lac Brigitte lies 2.5 km on, Baie Moleon (6.3 km), Lac Oudiette lies 9.4 km on, Lac Guigues (12 km) and Lac Dompierre lies 12 km on. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Open biodiversity records for Nord-du-Québec list Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Lac Regnault gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Climate normals give 16°C for July and -20°C for January. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Once it clears, about mid May, the fishing comes on quickly. The lid tends to go about mid May and return around early November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. The season on Lac Regnault rarely departs from it.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Brigitte, 2.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Lac Regnault may have changed since it was mapped.
