Rain colouring the margins today, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface and no real change in pressure. Lac Blanchet should fish best around any hard bottom among the soft today. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Quebec holds Lac Blanchet, in Nord-du-Québec. The setting is boreal forest on every side. This is big water, about 10.33 sq km, and in a wind it behaves like a small sea. There is roughly 42 km of bank, and each arm behaves like its own water. It is among the larger waters listed here for Nord-du-Québec. Start from Chibougamau, 70 km down the road. Then Mistissini, 73 km, and Chapais, 74 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Public occurrence data for Nord-du-Québec names Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Take Lac Blanchet a stretch at a time.
The warmest month averages 16°C, the coldest about -20°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Blanchet.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Should this one be busy, Lac Opataca is 5.7 km off. Rules at Lac Blanchet are worth checking on the day.
