A closed sky with even light today, with a whisper of wind from the SE and no real change in pressure. The fish at Lac Raquette are likely to sit near the first drop-off and weed lines. Numbers are low everywhere; the evening is the pick of them. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Raquette lies in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, in Quebec. The country here is northern bush. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Most waters listed here for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean are larger. Saint-Honoré sits 22 km from here and is the nearest stop. After that come Saint-Fulgence at 23 km and Chicoutimi at 30 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Work Lac Raquette in sections rather than trying to cover it.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -18°C. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Plan any trip to Lac Raquette around it.
We hold no note on access for this one. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. The nearest alternative is Lac Brule, 1 km out. Check the position at Lac Raquette before loading the car.
