An even grey lid over the water, with light air out of the ESE with the glass holding level. Fish at Lac Range should hold close to inflow corners and shaded margins. The numbers single out the middle of the day. Settle in and let the day develop. A raw day: short sessions and precise casts pay.

Set in Nord-du-Québec, Lac Range is a Quebec water. The land about it is northern bush. This is sizeable water at about 2.94 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. Some 24 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. Labrador City is the closest town at 370 km. Beyond it, Fermont at 372 km and Wabush at 375 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Reported across Nord-du-Québec: Arctic charr, brook trout and lake trout. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. On Lac Range a short move beats a long cast.
The year swings from about -25°C in January to roughly 13°C in July. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late May. Climate figures give an open season running late May to late October. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Expect Lac Range to follow that timing.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Aubert at 4.1 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm before you fish Lac Range.
