Dull, settled light over the water, with a stiffish breeze from the SSW and no real change in pressure. Fish at Lac Rageot should hold close to the seam between weed and open water. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Rageot is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, Quebec side. It sits in boreal forest. At 5 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. For supplies, Saint-Félicien is 21 km out. Normandin is 26 km and Saint-Prime 30 km. Nearby alternatives: Lac du Vison after 1.5 km, Lac du Chiffon near enough 2.5 km, Lac Noir after 2.7 km, Lac Ori near enough 3.9 km and Lac du Cordon after 4 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Fish Lac Rageot where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -18°C. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. It holds true on Lac Rageot more years than not.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. The nearest alternative is Lac du Vison, 1.5 km out. Rules at Lac Rageot are worth checking on the day.
