Flat light and a covered sky today, with steady pressure of wind from the SSW with the glass holding level. Give reed fringes and open pockets the first hour at Lac du Vison. The strongest window is the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, is where Lac du Vison sits. It sits at 406 metres above sea level. It covers about 8 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Saint-Félicien at 22 km is the nearest place to stop. Saguenay is the closest city, 127 km away. In the same area: Lac du Chiffon a touch under 1 km, Lac Rageot at 1.5 km, Lac Noir a touch under 2.2 km, Lac Ori at 2.5 km and Lac de l'Orignal a touch under 2.9 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. At Lac du Vison light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Between January at about -18°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The ice season is long here and the open one short. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. That is the shape of the year on Lac du Vison.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac du Chiffon, 1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Lac du Vison if anything is unclear.
