Rain moving through today, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lac Racine should come off the shallows early and the drop later. Make the night the heart of the trip. Make the first hour count and build on it. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

The Laurentides end of Quebec holds Lac Racine. It lies 386 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Most waters listed here for Laurentides are larger. Supplies mean a trip to Mont-Tremblant, 12 km off. Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne sits 85 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. The county list is broader than any single water. Fish Lac Racine to its features, not to its size.
Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -14°C at the bottom of winter. Winter shuts the surface down for months. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. At Lac Racine the season follows that pattern closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Parking within 110 m means no long carry with tackle. There are toilets mapped about 1.1 km away. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac de la Fourche is 0.8 km off. Check the position at Lac Racine before loading the car.
