Look for Lac Allen in the Lanaudière part of Quebec. It stands 529 metres above sea level. Roughly 63 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. There is roughly 4.1 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Few waters listed in Lanaudière are bigger. Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm lies 15 km from the water. Then Mont-Tremblant, 18 km, and Labelle, 25 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Treat Lac Allen as a water to read rather than to cover.
Climate records put July near 17°C and January near -14°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Lac Allen runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Access is not recorded for this water. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is recorded parking some 600 m off. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. The nearest alternative is Lac au Pekan, 1.6 km out. For Lac Allen in particular, ask before you travel.
