No direct sun expected today, with enough S wind to stack food downwind and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac Racette will be around the margins and the shelf beyond them. The morning carries the best of the day. Ride the conditions while they last. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Quebec holds Lac Racette, in Lanaudière. It lies 412 metres above sea level. Roughly 100 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. With 6.5 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. It ranks high for size among our Lanaudière listings. Saint-Michel-des-Saints at 16 km is the nearest place to stop. The big place round here is Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne, 98 km distant. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
We hold no depth figure for this one. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Lanaudière records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass among the fish reported. The county list is broader than any single water. The near bank of Lac Racette is often the one people ignore.
The range across the year is -15°C to 17°C. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Racette.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. You can launch from a ramp around 570 m away. There is a campsite 520 m from the water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Nantel, 2.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Racette for certain.
