A grey, even sky over the water, with a kind WSW breeze on the water with a settled glass. The fish at Lac Rac are likely to sit near sheltered bays and points. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Rac is set in Côte-Nord, Quebec. Northern bush runs right down to the water. Small enough that any disturbance crosses the whole surface. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Côte-Nord. Head to Forestville, 86 km away, for anything you forgot. Saguenay sits 106 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Species logged across Côte-Nord include logperch. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. On Lac Rac the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The range across the year is -18°C to 16°C. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Time your trip to Lac Rac by conditions rather than dates.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. The nearest alternative is Lac Mince, 0.8 km out. Check the position on Lac Rac before loading the car.
