Rain colouring the margins today, with a consistent blow out of the SSW and no real change in pressure. Whatever swims in Lac Quille should be near points where shallow meets deep. The strongest window is the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Mauricie, Quebec, is where Lac Quille sits. It sits in boreal forest. It measures about 17 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Shoreline comes to about 2.1 km, small enough to learn in a day. Leblanc sits 57 km from the bank. The big place round here is Trois-Rivières, 280 km distant. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. On Lac Quille the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The range across the year is -17°C to 17°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Lac Quille runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Should this one be busy, Lac Martin-Hill is 0.9 km off. Treat Lac Quille as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
