Uneven cloud over the water after dark, with a helpful ripple pushed from the S and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac Proudfoot will be around the calm side of the wind. The forecast is against you; the night is the least bad option. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Set in Outaouais, Lac Proudfoot is a Quebec water. The country here is lake country bush. At roughly 2 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. On size it sits at the modest end of our Outaouais list. Head to Fort-Coulonge, 14 km away, for anything you forgot. After that come Pembroke at 38 km and Cobden at 39 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
We hold no depth figure for this one. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Survey and observation records for Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. The county list is broader than any single water. On Lac Proudfoot a short move beats a long cast.
Temperature averages peak at 19°C in July and bottom out at -13°C in January. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly late November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. It holds true on Lac Proudfoot more years than not.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. For a change of water, Lac Pipe is 1.4 km distant. None of that is settled for Lac Proudfoot in what we hold.
