Rain colouring the margins today, with almost no wind to speak of and the barometer holding steady. The water to cover at Lac Code is the calm side of the wind. Bank on the evening and treat the rest as bonus. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Code falls in Outaouais, part of Quebec. The ground around here is rolling bush. Small at around 5 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. For supplies, Fort-Coulonge is 16 km out. Beyond it, Shawville at 40 km and Cobden at 41 km. Nearby alternatives: Lac Pigeon a touch under 1.4 km, Lac Hickey about 1.5 km, Lac Beaver a touch under 2.5 km, Lac Gordon about 3.9 km and Lac Willie-Angus a touch under 4 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Outaouais, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Read Lac Code before you fish it and the day goes better.
Typical July readings run about 19°C; by January the average is down near -14°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Anyone fishing Lac Code regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. If the gate is shut, Lac Pigeon at 1.4 km is the nearest alternative. None of that is settled for Lac Code in what we hold.
