Steady rain over the water today, with a light chop building from the S and the barometer holding steady. The fish at Lac Pigeon are likely to sit near the shallows early and the drop later. The day holds up well from the day. Work the productive water thoroughly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Pigeon is set in Outaouais, Quebec. Around the bank it is lake country bush. The water covers some 13 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The bank runs about 2.8 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Fort-Coulonge lies 17 km from the water. Shawville follows at 40 km, then Cobden at 42 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Pigeon the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -14°C in January. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Lac Pigeon runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Code at 1.4 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac Pigeon in particular, ask before you travel.
