Rain moving through today, with a gentle ripple from the SSW and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Lac Plomb is the calm side of the wind. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

The Outaouais end of Quebec holds Lac Plomb. It sits in spruce and muskeg country. Small at around 4 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Most waters listed here for Outaouais are larger. The closest town, Saint-Boniface, is 83 km away. Ferme-Neuve lies 83 km off, Mont-Laurier another 93 km. Not far off: Lac de la Neige some 1.1 km off, Lac Meduse within 1.5 km, Lac Saru some 1.7 km off, Lac Coquille within 1.8 km and Lac Jendin some 1.9 km off. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Take Lac Plomb a stretch at a time.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 17°C, while January sits near -17°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. The water is typically free of ice between early May and late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Plomb.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. If the gate is shut, Lac de la Neige at 1.1 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Plomb for certain.
