Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a faint SSW drift with the glass holding level. Most of the action on Lac Plessis should come off the shaded margin through bright spells. The forecast is against you; the morning is the least bad option. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand.

Lac Plessis sits within Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean in Quebec. Height above sea level is 704 metres. At roughly 2 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. It is a small entry by Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean standards. The closest town, Saint-Fulgence, is 53 km away. The big place round here is Saguenay, 64 km distant. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Lac Plessis the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Climate records put July near 15°C and January near -19°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. The lid usually goes in mid May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. On average, mid May opens the water and early November closes it again. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Expect Lac Plessis to follow that timing.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac des Pilotis at 1 km is the sensible second choice. Check the current arrangement for Lac Plessis.
