Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a light chop building from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Give the seam between weed and open water the first hour at Lac Pansu. Little to get excited about, though the morning holds a sliver of promise. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short.

Look for Lac Pansu in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Height above sea level is 730 metres. The water measures roughly 6 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. Saint-Fulgence lies 52 km from the water. For a city, Saguenay is 63 km off. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Lac Pansu the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
In an average year July sits at 15°C and January at -19°C. The ice season is long here and the open one short. Look for the thaw near mid May; the fishing lifts straight after. Climate averages put the opening at about mid May and the closing near early November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Plan any trip to Lac Pansu around it.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. For a change of water, Lac du Male is 0.4 km distant. Signs at Lac Pansu carry more weight than any list.
