Wet weather working through today, with a firm S blow with the barometer flat. Start the search at Lac Pinotte along the seam between weed and open water. The day peaks in the morning. Slow down and let the fish find the bait. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Set in Mauricie, Lac Pinotte is a Quebec water. The ground round it is mixed forest. Surface area is around 14 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Bank access stretches around 3.0 km in total. Saint-Michel-des-Saints sits 58 km from the bank. After that come La Tuque at 63 km and Saint-Élie-de-Caxton at 71 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Open biodiversity records for Mauricie list northern pike, brook trout and walleye. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. At Lac Pinotte the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
The warmest month averages 17°C, the coldest about -16°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Lac Pinotte runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Failing this one, try Lac Ariane, 0.5 km away. What applies at Lac Pinotte may have changed since it was mapped.
