Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a proper ripple driven from the SSW and pressure sitting still. On Lac Pika, work the shaded margin through bright spells first. Everything points to the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Laurentides in Quebec is where Lac Pika sits. The country here is spruce and muskeg. At about 13 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. A shoreline of some 2.5 km keeps the choices simple. Manawan sits 64 km from the bank. It is 211 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. Close neighbours run: Lac Duplessis at 1.6 km, Lac Ekal 2.1 km, Lac La Marlie at 2.8 km, Lac Gaucho 2.9 km and Lac Fool at 3.1 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. At Lac Pika light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -16°C in January. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Plan around that when you fish Lac Pika.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. The nearest alternative is Lac Duplessis, 1.6 km out. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Pika for certain.
