A grey, even sky over the water, with light air out of the N with the glass holding level. Fish at Lac Perron should hold close to the shaded margin through bright spells. The productive run goes night into morning. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. A cold snap day, so work the warmest water you can find.

This water sits in Nord-du-Québec, Quebec. This is boreal forest country. At 1.55 sq km this is proper open water rather than a pond. Some 16 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. Kuujjuaq at 247 km is the nearest place to stop. Saguenay is the closest city, 1302 km away. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Survey and observation records for Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. The near bank of Lac Perron is often the one people ignore.
Averages move between -25°C in January and 11°C in July. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Once it clears, about mid June, the fishing comes on quickly. Break-up sits around mid June on average, with the water closing again about late October. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Perron.
Public data does not answer the access question here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac Tasikutaaq Sanirarsinga at 1.9 km is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Lac Perron in what we hold.
