Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with the water lying quiet and pressure sitting still. Activity on Lac Perron should centre on the margins and the shelf beyond them. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Lac Perron lies in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Country round the bank runs to spruce and muskeg. It measures about 40 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. About 2.9 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Few waters listed in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean are bigger. 38 km away sits Pont Rouge, the nearest town. Then Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc, 40 km, and Dolbeau-Mistassini, 40 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac Perron gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -19°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. It holds true on Lac Perron more years than not.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. If the gate is shut, Petit lac Bellemare at 2 km is the nearest alternative. None of that is settled for Lac Perron in what we hold.
