Set in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Lac Cache is a Quebec water. The setting is northern bush on every side. It measures about 50 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The whole outline is near 4.6 km, and most of it is walkable. Size puts it in the front rank of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. Pont Rouge is the closest place, 47 km off. The big place round here is Saguenay, 121 km distant. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records hold no depth for this water. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Fish Lac Cache to its features, not to its size.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -19°C. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Break-up near early May, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Expect Lac Cache to follow that timing.
Public data does not answer the access question here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Malfait, 2.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Lac Cache should be assumed from this page alone.
