Solid cloud cover today, with barely a breath of wind and steady pressure. Whatever swims in Lac Perchaude should be near inflow corners and shaded margins. The day peaks in the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Set in Mauricie, Quebec, this is Lac Perchaude. Everything around it is lake country bush. It measures about 25 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. A shoreline of some 3.1 km keeps the choices simple. Sainte-Thècle at 28 km is the nearest place to stop. Further out sit Saint-Tite (33 km) and Laurentides (36 km). No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Treat Lac Perchaude as a water to read rather than to cover.
Long-run averages give July about 18°C and January about -15°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Count the season from break-up, usually late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. That is the shape of the year on Lac Perchaude.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac aux Lievres, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm before you fish Lac Perchaude.
