Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with calm air over the water and pressure sitting still. The water to cover at Lac de la Saline is points where shallow meets deep. The morning is where the day comes good. Ride the conditions while they last. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Quebec holds Lac de la Saline, in Mauricie. The land about it is rolling bush. The whole thing is a single swim; walk it in a minute. On size it sits at the modest end of our Mauricie list. For a base, Sainte-Thècle sits 29 km out. Saint-Tite is 34 km and Laurentides 37 km. Water in the same corner: Lac Perchaude at 1.1 km, Lac aux Lievres roughly 1.8 km, Lac Tom at 1.9 km, Lac Fou roughly 2.9 km and Lac Saint-Michel at 3.3 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Survey and observation records for Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. At Lac de la Saline the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -15°C in January. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. On Lac de la Saline that shapes the whole year.
The access position is unclear from public sources. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Perchaude, 1.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Lac de la Saline may have changed since it was mapped.
