No direct sun expected today, with flat calm through the day and no real change in pressure. Whatever swims in Lac Paddock should be near windblown banks where food collects. A stay-home graph, with the night as the one excuse to go. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Quebec holds Lac Paddock, in Nord-du-Québec. It stands 412 metres above sea level. With some 44 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. You are looking at roughly 5.4 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. Waswanipi lies 59 km from the water. Saguenay sits 362 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. At Lac Paddock the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
In an average year July sits at 16°C and January at -19°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. On Lac Paddock that shapes the whole year.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Watling at 1.3 km is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Lac Paddock in what we hold.
