Soft grey light all day today, with a busy SSW wind on the open water and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac Outre will be around sheltered bays and points. The morning is where the day comes good. A careful, quiet approach will out-fish a busy one. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Outre falls in Lanaudière, part of Quebec. It lies 406 metres above sea level. At roughly 4 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. The closest town, Saint-Michel-des-Saints, is 13 km away. Beyond it, Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm at 34 km and Sainte-Béatrix at 55 km. If this one is busy: Lac Perrault (0.8 km), Lac Riopel some 2.2 km off, Lac a Moise (2.8 km), Lac Brazeau some 2.9 km off and Lac Aleu (3.4 km). It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Fish documented in Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Work Lac Outre in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Between January at about -15°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Plan any trip to Lac Outre around it.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Perrault at 0.8 km is the sensible second choice. Ask locally about Lac Outre if anything is unclear.
