An even grey lid over the water, with a helpful ripple pushed from the S with the glass holding level. Give any hard bottom among the soft the first hour at Lac Ouimet. Save your energy for the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Ouimet is a Laurentides water, Quebec side. The water sits 210 metres up. At 3 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Our Laurentides list holds plenty of bigger water. The nearest town is Mont-Laurier, 24 km away. Maniwaki is 38 km and Ferme-Neuve 41 km. Close by you also have: Lac Lefebvre after 1.2 km, 1.3 km away is Lac Gaucher, Lac Long after 1.4 km, 1.9 km away is Lac Rond and Lac Leonard after 2 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Treat Lac Ouimet as a water to read rather than to cover.
Climate records put July near 18°C and January near -14°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Time your trip to Lac Ouimet by conditions rather than dates.
The access position is unclear from public sources. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Lac Lefebvre is 1.2 km off. Confirm access to Lac Ouimet locally before you travel.
