Rain colouring the margins today, with a kind S breeze on the water and the barometer holding steady. The productive water at Lac Mallonne will be around the first drop-off and weed lines. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Mallonne is a Laurentides water, Quebec side. This is rolling bush ground. This is sizeable water at about 1.09 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. The edge covers about 8.6 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. Size puts it in the front rank of our Laurentides list. Start from Mont-Laurier, 26 km down the road. The nearest city of size is Gatineau, 95 km away. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Species logged across Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac Mallonne gives up more to patience than to distance.
The warm month here averages 19°C; the cold one sits at -14°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lac Mallonne fishes to that pattern most years.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Sort the permit out before you load the car. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Should this one be busy, Lac a Dick is 1.2 km off. Nothing on Lac Mallonne should be assumed from this page alone.
