Solid cloud cover today, with a whisper of wind from the S with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Lac Olonzac should be near reed fringes and open pockets. Set the alarm around the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

This water sits in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Height above sea level is 404 metres. The water covers some 20 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The bank runs about 1.9 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Supplies mean a trip to Normandin, 70 km off. Saguenay sits 187 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Fish Lac Olonzac to its features, not to its size.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -19°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Olonzac.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac Cebazan, 1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Lac Olonzac may have changed since it was mapped.
