No direct sun expected today, with mild air moving in from the SSW with the barometer flat. Fish at Lac Oblong should hold close to inflow corners and shaded margins. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Quebec holds Lac Oblong, in Côte-Nord. Tidal water begins 6.3 km from here. The water covers some 23 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Roughly 3.9 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. Saint-Alexandre lies 15 km from the water. Then Port-Cartier, 15 km, and Sept-Îles, 54 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Reported across Côte-Nord: logperch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Work Lac Oblong in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Seasonal averages run from -15°C in January up to 16°C in July. The ice season is long here and the open one short. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. At Lac Oblong the season follows that pattern closely.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac de la Varappe, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac Oblong in what we hold.
