Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a whisper of wind from the SW and the barometer holding steady. The water to cover at Lac Obel is sheltered bays and points. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Obel lies within the bounds of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. The water sits 365 metres up. At about 46 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Saint-Boniface is the closest town at 106 km. The nearest city of size is Gatineau, 215 km away. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Open biodiversity records for Abitibi-Témiscamingue list northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. At Lac Obel the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -16°C on the long-run figures. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. On Lac Obel that shapes the whole year.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Failing this one, try Lac Pagnon, 2.5 km away. None of that is settled for Lac Obel in what we hold.
