A closed sky with even light today, with light air out of the S and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Lac Nonza around the shallows early and the drop later. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Take the steady approach over the searching one. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Set in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Lac Nonza is a Quebec water. The water sits 382 metres up. A pocket of water where every cast reaches cover. On size it sits at the modest end of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. Some 84 km away sits Normandin, the nearest settlement. Albanel lies 87 km off, Chibougamau another 100 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish among the fish reported. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Lac Nonza a short move beats a long cast.
Between January at about -19°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. On Lac Nonza that shapes the whole year.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Trepot, 0.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat Lac Nonza as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
