A grey, even sky over the water, with a gentle ripple from the NE and pressure sitting still. Fish at Lac Noir should hold close to the seam between weed and open water. The strongest window runs from the day. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Out in Laurentides, Quebec, sits Lac Noir. Country round the bank runs to rolling bush. Roughly 11 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The whole outline is near 1.5 km, and most of it is walkable. Nearest place of any size is Brownsburg-Chatham, 13 km away. It is 62 km to Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne, the nearest city. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Open biodiversity records for Laurentides list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Noir repays a walk before the first cast.
Long-run averages give July about 19°C and January about -12°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Climate figures give an open season running late April to early December. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Time your trip to Lac Noir by conditions rather than dates.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac Cook, 1.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac Noir in what we hold.
