Overcast skies today, with a gentle ripple from the S with a settled glass. Fish at Lac Newton should hold close to the shaded margin through bright spells. Set the alarm around the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Look for Lac Newton in the Outaouais part of Quebec. It sits in mixed forest country. It runs to roughly 32 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. There is roughly 5.0 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. On our Outaouais list it sits near the top for size. The town to know is Val-des-Monts, 8.2 km out. Gatineau sits 26 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. This one is safely inside the county line.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Species logged across Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Fish Lac Newton to its features, not to its size.
July runs about 19°C on average, January about -13°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly early December. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. The season on Lac Newton follows the weather closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac Wright, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Lac Newton may have changed since it was mapped.
