Overcast skies today, with a kind S breeze on the water with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Lac Nevoir should be near sheltered bays and points. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Nord-du-Québec in Quebec is where Lac Nevoir sits. The surface lies 427 metres up. Roughly 3.27 sq km of surface: treat each bay as a water in its own right. Some 17 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. Chibougamau at 56 km is the nearest place to stop. Chapais is 78 km and Mistissini 96 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Nord-du-Québec records list Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco among the fish reported. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Fish Lac Nevoir to its features, not to its size.
In an average year July sits at 16°C and January at -19°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. At Lac Nevoir the season follows that pattern closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac du Farniente at 1.8 km is the sensible second choice. Treat access at Lac Nevoir as something to verify.
