A grey, even sky over the water, with a light chop building from the S with the glass holding level. The productive water at Lac Nano will be around reed fringes and open pockets. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Nano lies within the bounds of Mauricie, Quebec. The water sits 431 metres up. At 4 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. On size it sits at the modest end of our Mauricie list. Leblanc at 47 km is the nearest place to stop. Further out sit Weymontachie (80 km) and Normandin (108 km). Nearby alternatives: Lac Pico at 1.6 km, Lac Rice 2.7 km, Lac Ali at 3.3 km, Lac Insolent 3.3 km and Lac Untel at 3.7 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth figures are not published for this one. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Records held for Mauricie cover northern pike, brook trout and walleye. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac Nano the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -18°C on the long-run figures. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. That is the shape of the year on Lac Nano.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Pico, 1.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm before you fish Lac Nano.
