A closed sky with even light today, with a decent S wind working the banks with the barometer flat. Fish at Lac Nan should hold close to inflow corners and shaded margins. Set the alarm around the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Nan stands in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec. The bank is 445 metres above sea level. At 2 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Capitale-Nationale. Some 18 km away sits Laurentides, the nearest settlement. The big place round here is Sainte-Foy, 87 km distant. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac Nan gives up more to patience than to distance.
Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -15°C at the bottom of winter. Winter shuts the surface down for months. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. That shapes the year on Lac Nan.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac de la Mousse at 1.1 km is the sensible second choice. The position on Lac Nan is worth confirming on the day.
