An even grey lid over the water, with a soft WSW wind and steady pressure. Most of the action on Lac Murky should come off shallow cover and weed edges. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Murky sits in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, out in Quebec. The water sits 224 metres up. With some 52 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Around 6.1 km of bank, which is a long day on foot. Size puts it in the front rank of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. The town to know is Dolbeau-Mistassini, 35 km out. Saguenay is the closest city, 123 km away. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac Murky fishes better once you know its edges.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -20°C. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. It holds true on Lac Murky more years than not.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac a l'Eau Claire, 1.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac Murky in what we hold.
